- DP Ruto had earlier claimed that Oparanya was among leaders from Western Kenya backing Uhuru Kenyatta
- Oparanya’s conspicuous absence in both ODM and NASA rallies has raised speculation
Governor Wycliffe Oparanya is fighting claims that he could be a Jubilee sympathiser in NASA.
Oparanya, who is also ODM deputy party leader has poured cold water on recent claims by Deputy President William Ruto that he is among NASA governors who have a soft spot for President Uhuru Kenyatta in Western region.
According to him, Ruto might have meant former Vihiga MP Moses Akaranga.
“I am in NASA and support Raila Odinga’s position of no reforms no elections,” Oparanya told journalists in Kakamega barely hours after Ruto, who on a campaign trail in Kiambu, claimed Oparanya was among key political leaders from Western backing Uhuru.
Ruto also singled out former Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu who has since defected to Jubilee after he lost the gubernatorial race to Wilbur Ottichillo of ODM.
Oparanya has denied any links with Jubilee, terming politicians from Western who went decamped to Jubilee as self-seekers and political spent forces.
Speculations have been rife that Oparanya could indeed be a Jubilee mole in NASA after the governor’s conspicuous absence in both ODM and NASA political activities in Kakamega and Western region since he was re-elected into office.
