A Kenyan based in Dallas Texas was left stranded in the country with her three children while on vacation.

Susan Mwangi arrived in Kenya for traditional marriage and vacation and posted photos on Facebook having a good time at Lake Naivasha before all hell broke loose.

She alleges that soon after a good time, her husband James Wairegi abandoned her with the kids and travelled back to Texas with their travel documents, leaving her with their kids and bills to pay.

A source close to Susan alleges that Wairegi had not taken off with the documents but took them for safekeeping.

According to a Facebook post by Kenya Women in the United States (KWITU), Susan was abandoned by her spouse back home in Kenya after a family vacation with the kids.

After realising that she had been dumped in Kenya, Susan sought help from fellow women to facilitate her trip back as she was getting late for work and their children who are US citizens were due for school.

KWITU raised Sh1.4 million in less than a week to facilitate their friend’s return to the US.

But the incident wasn’t devoid of drama. Susan was detained for a few hours after her sister-in-law accused her of taking her furniture from the home where they were putting up.

Susan had admitted to taking the furniture as they were her husband’s and they needed somewhere to sit.

In another incident, Susan involved the law to get a consent form from her husband to enable her process fresh travel documents for herself and three kids.

But Wairegi has denied abandoning his family and taking off with their travel documents claiming that he travelled earlier than his family to return to work.

He added that even though they had family problems, he did not ask anyone to fundraise for his wife since he can provide for them.
