Daystar University students in Athi River campus have been suspended for one week after they caused learning disruption by striking earlier today morning. The students closed the school’s main gate and ensured no one walked in or out of the school compound.

The strike was allegedly due to the fact that the Daystar University Students Association (DUSA) claimed that the administration was making decisions without consulting the students’ government, DUSA.

A notice to all students in Athi River campus, sent by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Timothy Wachira, said that despite talks with the student government, the students had gone ahead to disrupt normal functioning of the school.

The Daystar University senate has since gone ahead to suspend  the DUSA governance at Athi River campus and the DUSA officials have been suspended from the university with immediate effect until further notice.

The Athi River campus has also been closed down for one week and all students asked to leave the campus immediately. The VC in his ending remarks has said that the students will be notified on when to resume classes.

However, learning in Nairobi and Mombasa campuses have not been disrupted and thus classes continue as usual.
