19-year-old singer Nikita Kering has been named the Best Female Artiste in East Africa after winning the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2021, held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Sharing the exciting news with netizens on social media, the elated Ex crooner thanked her loyal fans for the support that saw her beat music stars; Zuchu, Nandy, Tanasha Donna, and Nadia Mukami, nominated under the same category.
The bubbly singer also bagged the Best Artiste RnB and Soul title and couldn't be any happier.
"THANK YOU!!! @afrima.awards. I didn't do this alone, I did it with you. Thank you and Thank God. Best Artiste Rnb and Soul, Best Female Artiste East Africa," she wrote.
However, this is not the first time the talented singer and songwriter has won an AFRIMA award. In 2019 the Universal Music signee thanked AFRIMA for the recognition and opportunity after being nominated and winning.
"It's something that makes me very happy; it encourages me to keep on working harder; it lets me know that there are people around Africa and around the world listening to my music. This makes me very happy, and encourages me to work even harder than I am.
"When I got nominated, I realized that AFRIMA isn't just about picking the artiste with the most views or the most famous artiste. They were really looking into the art of the artistes, understanding where we are coming from, something you don't find in many places. I'm just happy that they are able to see real artiste from afar and give them a platform," she said in a previous interview.
Nikita, who embarked on her musical journey at a very tender age, has grown to win the hearts of many with her breathtaking vocals and unique music that has received much admiration and accolades.
