It has been a rocky week for Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua. Since announcing his recent breakup with long-term girlfriend Lillian Ng’ang’a over the weekend, the politician has been the topic of discussion on social media and blogs.
But Mutua seems to be looking ahead, choosing to be in a celebratory mood as his birthday, August 22 approaches.
The governor has taken to his social media accounts to announce that he will on Sunday host an exclusive birthday party together with Tanzanian Bongo crooner Rayvanny, with whom he shares a birthday.
“We have decided to hold a special double birthday party for a few people on Sunday afternoon,” Mutua wrote to his 1 million Twitter followers yesterday, accompanying the post with a poster of the details.

The party, which will also be a concert, will take place at the Emara Hotel Ole Sereni.
The governor has also said that he has never had a birthday party due to growing up in a poor home, a claim he made in an early morning interview today.
“Such things, I would see only on TV, but I never had a birthday party - you know, with growing up poor. So this is a special mission for me. It just so happens that I share that day with Rayvanny, so we decided to come together and have this exclusive event,” he said.
The joint party comes a month after Mutua visited Rayvanny at his Next Level Music headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
“Singing with Rayvanny. He is such a talented and humble person and we share a birthday - August 22,” Mutua wrote on his Instagram handle in July, to which Raynanny commented," Big family.”
The governor will be turning 51 years old while Rayvanny, whose real name is Raymond Shaban, will be turning 28.
The party will not only be the governors’ reported first but the first as a single man following his split from Lillian.
“Winds of change blew my way and two months ago, I decided to end my long term relationship with Dr Alfred Mutua. With this, I put down the Machakos Frist Lady cap - and what an honour it has been to be of service,” Lillian wrote on Instagram barely four days ago, revealing the split to the world.
The two have said that they will remain close friends.
