A winning trend began to quickly emerge on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday night as star after star turned up in gold outifts.
Much like the Oscar statue itself, stars of the big screen and beyond looked like they wanted to be recognised as winners as they stepped out in shimmering threads.
Golden dresses and bold suits commanded instant attention as stars rocked up in the number 1 signalling signature colour.
Actor and singer Leslie Odom Jr, 39, dazzled in a double-breasted, gilded Brioni suit.
The multi-talented star was nominated for two gongs on the night – Best Supporting Actor for his role as Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami.
And Best Original Song for the track Speak Now – from the same film.
British actress Carey Muligan also plucked for gold as she arrived in a couture dress in the glittering colour.
The 35-year-old actress was nominated for Best Actress for her role as Cassandra "Cassie" Thomas in thriller Promising Young Woman.
Carey wowed in her gold crop top and skirt from design house Valentino – while rocker husband Marcus Mumford, 34, looked sharp in a suit which showcased his impressive lockdown weight loss.
Meanwhile Andra Day, 36, also stunned in gold.
The actress was up for Best Actress in The United States vs. Billie Holiday – where she played, and wowed, as Billie Holiday.
Her red carpet outfit caused many a jaw to drop as her golden gown by Vera Wang showed off her incredible figure.
Her stylist, Wouri Vice, shared details of the eye-grabbing ensemble to Vogue.
“There’s cut-outs, leg, peekaboos, it’s a scandal,” he giggled – adding that Andra's look was intended to be “j-a-w dropping”.
The mission was certainly accomplished there as many on twitter praised the actress for her delightful look.
One twitter user remarked: "Andra Day looking like a trophy herself".
