Angelina Jolie admitted she has been unable to chase her directing dreams because of her divorce and custody battle with her ex Brad Pitt.
The Hollywood star exes have been locked in a custody battle over their six children for five years since they got a divorce in 2016.
Angelina, 45, and Brad, 57, have been co-parenting their children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.
In a candid interview, Angela admitted she has been unable to chase her directing dreams because of the break up at home.
Instead, the actress has sought out "shorter" acting jobs so she could be at home more with the kids.
I love directing, but I had a change in my family situation that’s not made it possible for me to direct for a few years,” she told Entertainment Weekly.
“I needed to just do shorter jobs and be home more, so I kind of went back to doing a few acting jobs. That’s really the truth of it.”
Angelina and Brad live very close to each other in Los Angeles while they manage looking after their children.
The mother-of-six had branched out into the directing world with flicks Unbroken and First They Killed My Father.
But now the Hollywood bombshell has stepped back into acting roles.
This year the Mr & Mrs Smith actress has returned to acting with her role in the upcoming movie,'Those Who Wish Me Dead'.
Angelina explained her part goes against her maternal instinct because her firefighter character Hannah reluctantly helps a vulnerable 12-year-old boy.
"My character is not maternal by natural," she told the magazine.
"Sometimes Taylor would correct me because my behavior towards a child was different from [Hannah's] behavior (sic) towards a child. It took me a little bit to treat [Little] badly, but I got there!"
