In September last year, police launched the manhunt for the suspect after the bodies were retrieved from the shallow pit latrine in his compound in Awasi area. Yesterday, the suspect was spotted at a funeral in Asembo Bay by members of the public who alerted the area assistant chief who in turn, notified Aram Police Post.

“Officers from Aram helped us arrest him and we are now chasing after his accomplice,” Matete said. Police say the suspect had been released from Kodiaga prison where he served time for rape and robbery with violence. The family of one of the victims found in the latrine told The Standard that their kin, Stephen Onyango, 35, was last seen with the suspect.

Onyango's family was attracted by a foul smell from the compound of the suspect and a search unearthed the decomposing bodies. Enraged villagers set ablaze two houses belonging to the suspect who went missing ever since.
