Mariah Carey has been renting a six-bedroom mansion for extra space during the coronavirus pandemic. The diva singing superstar, 50, vacated her glamorous penthouse with her twins Moroccan and Monroe, nine, in March ahead of the lockdown. Their dad and her ex Nick Cannon, she says, remains just a "phone call away".

The mother-of-two made the move because she wanted her kids to have enough space, and the Westchester County country estate has plenty. “Not that the apartment wasn't spacious,” she told New York magazine Vulture. Nestled in Bedford Corners, the gorgeous property has been laid out over 10,500 square feet with seven full and four half bathrooms.

It sold for an eye-watering $4.8million in 2012 but since then it's had plenty of work done to transform the picturesque home. Later in the summer of 2015, it almost sold for $10million, but when it didn't the price come crashing down to $6.9million the next year.

Last summer the property was taken off the for-sale market completely. But Mariah and her children have been happy with the plush setting, which looks like it's been plucked from a novel. Also, the songstress has moved in a handful of dedicated staff members on site.

What's more, the palace features a violin-shaped pool and basketball courts, which have proved perfect for keeping her twins entertained. If that wasn't enough, the mansion comes with a 900-gallon saltwater fish tank and a games room as well as a home cinema room.

Of course, Mariah acknowledged that her stunning penthouse in lower Manhattan - which once featured on Cribs in 2002 - is still "spacious". But it seemed the family have been happy with the temporary move amid the COVID-19 quarantine period. September will be an exciting time for Mariah as her tell-all book The Meaning Of Mariah Carey will hit the shelves at the end of the month.

She wrote of her memoir: "This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival and my songs. Unfiltered." Her move also comes amid the Ellen DeGeneres scandal, who was accused of bullying the star in a resurfaced video as toxic claims about the talk show host continue to swirl.

Mariah previously told Vulture she wasn't ready to share she was pregnant at the time of the 2008 talk show interview but it seemed Ellen was determined to make the big reveal. Ellen pranked the singer by trying to make her drink alcohol because her refusal would give an air of truth to the rumour she was expecting.

She told her Today Extra co-host David Campbell: "Oh it's awful, it's ugly, ugly behaviour.  "And if she was not in on the joke, which she says she is not, then Ellen really has some explaining to do on that one. You cannot put a woman in that position. That's maybe the ugliest thing I've seen in this whole saga so far... that's a clear case of bullying."
