It seems that no matter what a photo is of if you post it on the internet, people will always manage to find something to criticise. One woman recently discovered this to be true after sharing an innocent picture of the packed lunch she'd made for her husband.
The unnamed woman uploaded the image to the Facebook group, Budget Friendly Meals Australia where the post quickly garnered a lot of attention - and backlash. Her image showed she'd made sandwiches for her partner, put some crackers in a tub, cut up some cheese and sausages in another and also got out a muesli bar and some fruit for him, including an apple, banana and orange.
All of these items were arranged on the kitchen side, ready for her husband, who works as a builder, to take to work with him. The wife wrote alongside the photo that the lunch was "cheaper, fresher and healthier" than the options typically available on a construction site.
But it wasn't the food itself that angered people - it was the fact that it had been prepared for him in the first place. Facebook users began arguing about gender roles in this day and age, with many saying that the man should be making his own lunch.
Others thought the woman was treating the grown man like a child and berated her for "waiting on him hand and foot".
One person said: "Do we have to feed them during the day now too?" The comments became so cruel that moderators of the group had to remove a number of them. Not everyone was mean to the woman though, some were much more supportive.
A different user wrote: "No more comments about whether you agree or disagree with packing your significant other's lunch for them."
Another replied: "Each to their own, nobody is forcing you to pack husband's lunch. Move on if you don't agree with it."
A couple of users also were encouraged to share photos of the packed lunches they make for their own loved ones. One mum admitted to writing affectionate messages on the lid of her husband's lunch box every day.
Another said she sometimes liked to mix up her husband's lunch box with her son's just for fun.
