A popular Tanzania media personality has taken a swipe at singer Diamond Platnumz for using playback in his performance during the Wasafi Festival, Kenya edition.

Through a tweet, Maulid Kitenge of E FM wrote that the fury on social media following Diamond’s performance with support of playback was enough for the singer to change tact.

Kitenge explained that, on his analysis, Kenyans prefer to listen to their favorite artists sing live and abhor being told to sing along to songs.

Wakenya kwa jinsi wanavyolalamika, na kwa jinsi nlivyoona ile show ya Diamond, inaonekana wanataka msanii wa kuimba kama Diamond aimbe watu wamsikie na sio playback na kuimbisha watu. So Diamond akienda tena kule ajipange,” wrote the radio presenter.

This is not the first time that Kitenge is on Diamond’s nose.

Five months ago, Tanzanian media platforms were awash with reports that he flew to South Africa to ask for Zari Hassan’s hand in marriage.

The proposal was reportedly rejected by Diamond’s ex. But in a rejoinder, he claimed that he was planning to and was not rebuffed by the ‘Boss Lady.’

"Those spreading rumors that I was rejected by Zari and that I have stopped pursuing her are liars. What I'm saying is that I am planning and also I am to take bride price to her home soon,'' said Kitenge

Diamond was flanked by Wasafi heavyweights; Rayvanny, Queen Darleen, Lava Lava, and Mbosso in his much-anticipated tour of Kenya.
