Fans of Tanzanian Bongo Flava icon Ali Kiba were on New Year’s Eve treated to a free concert courtesy of Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
The governor who shares a close friendship with Ali Kiba, was at Mama Ngina drive where he announced that he had paid all gate charges.
He, however, had one condition to the revelers that they carry national identification cards.
“We are going to usher the New Year in style. I want all of you to attend Ali Kiba's concert as we cross over to 2019. You will enter for free but ensure you show your Identity Card,” said Joho.
Besides Ali Kiba, Kenya Afro Pop group Sauti Sol also performed at the event whose gate charges were Sh1,000 for regular and Sh 3000 for VIPs.
Among the personalities who attended Ali Kiba's show included Mombasa County Assembly Speaker Harub Khatri, Governor Joho's brother Abu Joho and Women Representative Aisha Mohammed.
This comes just day after reports emerged that the governor intervened on Tanzanian singer Ommy Dimpoz hospital bills after undergoing second throat surgery in Germany.
The event went down at Mombasa Sports Club.
