Last night NTV Journalist Mark Maasai had an exclusive interview with the Deputy President William Ruto at his residence in Karen.
Under the hashtag #DPRutoOnNTV that has since gone viral, Kenyans have shared different opinion on how the interview was conducted.
Some felt that the right questions were not asked while others accused Ruto of not answering questions to their satisfaction.
Here are a sample of the sentiments:
As much as I understand journalist Mark Masai has burning questions to ask, an interviewee must also be given time to respond to questions. These unnecessary interjections are unnecessary. Give the DP time to respond bwana. Pumua kiasi. #DPRutoOnNTV — Ahmed Mohamed (@Asmali77) July 8, 2018
Mark Masai is the male version of kisungu mingi na kunyoa ndevu kama slay king. No research and connection to the issues. The biggest quote from this interview is “SGR is not a matatu....” At that point, the issue should have ended. #DPRutoOnNTV — Robert ALAI, HSC (@RobertAlai) July 8, 2018
.@MarkMasai did well generally. He put hard questions, covered a range of topics, maintained respect & when DP @WilliamsRuto pointed out he was putting questions & giving less time for answers, he listened & handled the 1 hour interview professionally. Good job sir. #DPRutoOnNTV— Dennis Itumbi, HSC (@OleItumbi) July 8, 2018
#DPRutoOnNTV the calibre of kenyan journalists is wanting.basically the questions mark was asking were not even well researched bt came out as rumours.i expect journos to carry out proper research and present irrefutable facts to the interviewee — KatieWereski (@KatWereski) July 9, 2018
Yesterday I had a difficult time in translating the last night's interview between @MarkMasai and @WilliamsRuto for grandma
I got stuck when @WilliamsRuto said he has never got involve in any graft in kenya.
Grandma was almost slapping me for misinterpretation. #DPRutoOnNTVpic.twitter.com/KuPJzkIN2L — Jaramogi Ochoro BSC. (@JaramogiOchoro) July 9, 2018
#DPRutoOnNTV Those mocking @MarkMasai should know he is on a time schedule, plus Interjections are part of an interview, especially if the DP isn't answering the questions as asked. Cut Mark some slack.. — Trizah Tee (@trizah_tee) July 8, 2018
When it comes to the DP, questions are an ambush even when we know he's been the weakest link in the fight against corruption, proper governance.
His display of inordinate sensitivity to criticism and still sympathizers fall on his defence and admonish the messenger#DPRutoOnNTVpic.twitter.com/qWZ87FFzz0 — MANG'ONG'O (@JoshuaOkumu4) July 9, 2018
#DPRutoOnNTV Yes, the SRG operational costs is 1Billion per month,
Mark the SGR is not matatu; The SGR will brake even by end of this year; Some people are born pathological liers and you can't do anything about it; — larry MG 254 (@larry_ghee) July 9, 2018
