Celebrated Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee aka Vee Money will today launch her debut album titled ‘Money Mondays’ at Simba Corp Aspire Centre in Westlands, Nairobi.
The singing beauty arrived in the country on Saturday afternoon and performed at the Qwetu House Party event at the Carnivore’s Simba Saloon restaurant, where she gave snippets of what fans should expect from her new release today.
Accompanied by her fellow musician and close friend Juma Jux and dancers, the petit talented singer thrilled the crowd with her hit songs, among them ‘Nobody But Me’, ‘Niroge’, ‘Never Ever’ and ‘Cash Madame’ and also gave fans a small taste of her new numbers that will be fully sampled during tonight’s show.
“I am just giving you a teaser of what you should expect from the album. ‘Money Mondays’ is an album that my fans should not miss. I have come all the way to Kenya to launch it here because I cherish my Nairobi supporters,” she said during the Carnivore gig.
“I am accompanied by a friend you know, Juma Jux, and all I want to do is ask him to come and greet you people,” she added, getting eyes rolling over the closeness between her and Jux.
“Today, I am not here to perform but to support my friend Vanessa. You will get to see much more during the album launch,” said Jux, who has collaborated with Mdee in her 2016 ‘Juu’ release.
The two left together immediately after the performance.
Over the last three years, Mdee has carved a niche for herself as one of the most successful urban pop singers, with her popular tracks topping charts and making her a household name across the region.
Tonight’s party, which will be hosted by Chimano of Sauti Sol, will see Mdee give an intimate performance for her die-hard fans and a select group of VIP guests.
