Popular TV personality Larry Madowo has left NTV.

Taking to his Twitter handle, the former columnist, the Trend and Sidebar host disclosed the news of his exit saying he was humbled and grateful for the opportunity Nation Media Group (NMG) gave him.

“I leave @ntvkenya as I came: humbled & grateful. The job was one of the great honours of my life. Thanks to everyone who watched, and to Nation for the privilege of the opportunity. I’m proud of my amazing colleagues & everything we accomplished. Farewell, my friends. Stay woke” He posted.

His exit comes barely days after eight columnists from Nation Media Group owned Daily Nation resigned citing lack of editorial independence at the media firm.

Earlier in the year, Larry rubbed shoulders with his bosses after covering the swearing in of NASA chief Raila Odinga.

Larry, NTV anchor Ken Mijungu and the then NTV Managing Editor Linus Kaikai were on the spot for covering the NASA event after the government warned that it be given blackout.

Kaikai would then resign from the station days after police allegedly laid siege outside the NMG offices in a bid to arrest them. Linus Kaikai exit had stirred speculations on Larry’s future at Nation Centre.

Of late, Larry has been a darling of international media houses seeking to get opinions on Kenyan matters. He has since featured for BBC News, CNN, Al Jazeera and Washington Post.

Just days ago, he featured on BBC sharing his opinions on revelations that Cambridge Analytica was retained by President Uhuru Kenyatta during last year’s election.

Larry reportedly stopped writing for the Daily Nation after his senior editors found his anti-government posture uncomfortable.
