Yesterday, gospel artist Papa Dennis was laid to rest at Matunda, within Likuyani constituency in Kakamega County.
The well-attended burial brought together hundreds of fans, family, friends and different players from the music industry.
Ringtone, Mr Seed and Daddy Owen are some of the gospel musicians who were at papa Dennis’ interment.
Speaking to SDE, Daddy Owen expressed surprised at the high turnout at the singer’s burial.
“The burial ceremony went smoothly. Watu walikuwa wengi sana. Papa Dennis was loved by many people,” he said.
Daddy Owen also thanked Kenyans for contributing towards the singer’s burial cost while also sending out a message to Kenyan musicians.
“Thank you so much because there was a lot going on the side-lines but we felt like Kenyans really supported Dennis.
“To Kenyan musicians, we impact so many people with what we do. Never take anything for granted.
“Know you are important and the way you carry yourself really determines your journey on earth,” he said.
Daddy Owen concluded by urging players in the music industry to sober up and address issues facing artists.
Papa Dennis’s death is currently under investigation by the police to establish whether it was a suicide or homicide.
