David Gikaria.

Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament David Gikaria caused a stir after introducing his two wives during a public forum.

After being asked to greet the crowd by Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, the polygamous legislator seized the opportunity to introduce the two ‘First Ladies.’

“I’m the Nakuru East MP and when one has a wife or wives, he has to acknowledge them. I have several Nakuru Town East First Ladies. Let me introduce them to you,” he said, before ushering the two onto the stage.

The smiling ladies got onto the podium as the crowd went wild with cheers.

“This is Veronica Wairimu, she is the First Lady number one. And this one is Dorcas Wangui, she is also the First Lady number one B. First Lady number one C is not here, but I will bring her here another day,” said Gikaria, to the crowd’s amusement.

Gikaria’s marriages are well within the law as in 2014, President Uhuru Kenyatta signed into law a bill legalising polygamy.

I seriously beat my wife when she was nine months pregnant

Three years ago, Gikaria admitted to once beating up his wife when she was pregnant.

“I beat her up seriously when she was nine months pregnant and we almost lost our only son. I caused my family so much pain and sorrow, they never understood why I used to beat my wife. I regret my actions,” the tearful MP confessed.

Gikaria urged men who beat their wives to change, claiming it was a barbaric act and wrong.

“I vowed never to beat my wife again. You see, during my youth, I had no one to advise me about life matters, so I engaged in several social vices,” he said.
