Keroche industrialist Tabitha Karanja is today, August 30, 2019, celebrating her birthday.
Karanja, according to a video shared by her daughter Anerlisa Muigai, was adorably surprised at the door as she left for work early Friday morning.
Flanked by her fiancé singer Ben Pol, Anerlisa posted that the two lovebirds who have been dating for a little over a year decided to cheer her mother up on her big day.
“In the mix of everything, I remembered today is my mother's birthday and Ben and I decided to surprise and cheer her up before she went to work this morning... Happy Birthday Mum, We love you and may God bless you always,” wrote Anerlisa on Instagram.
The CEO of Keroche Breweries and her husband, Joseph Karanja, are out on a bail of Sh10 million and Sh2 million respectively following their arrest in Naivasha on Thursday, August 22, and arraignment in court over accusations of Sh14 billion tax fraud.
Speaking on phone with the Standard before the arrest, the brewer questioned the timing of the orders by the Director of Public Prosecutions ( DPP) and reiterated that she was a law-abiding citizen.
"Am shocked by the new allegations levelled against me, my husband and Keroche Breweries and this is pure malice.
"This is a vendetta war launched by my competitors and am ready to face the taxman and the DPP to prove my innocence. We have engaged Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) over the rates we are supposed to pay and the issue of the Sh14b unremitted tax as claimed by the DPP has never been raised with us," said Tabitha.
However, appearing before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, the Prosecution declared that the accused were aware that the KRA required clarification.
They denied the charges. The case will be mentioned on September 2.
