The High Court was yesterday forced to postpone trial of a 24-year-old Egerton University student charged with killing his girlfriend and later attempting to commit suicide.

Edmond Ruto is accused of murdering Cynthia Chelang’at by stabbing her with a knife on February 19, last year, at Njokerio estate in Njoro.

He allegedly turned the knife and stabbed himself once on his neck in an attempted suicide before he was rescued by neighbours.

State Counsel Amos Chigiti told Justice Joel Ngugi prosecution was yet to receive important exhibits necessary for the trial. The case will be mentioned on June 19.
