
A former street boy who hit news headlines after being rescued from the streets by a former schoolmate in 2017 is dead.
News of Patrick Hinga’s demise was broken on Sunday evening by his rescuer, Wanja Mwaura.
“With deep sorrow I want to inform you that Hinga has rested.

“He passed on this morning. I don't have the strength to say much right now. R.I.P my friend,” Wanja, AKA Faith Nganga posted on social media.
Making headlines
Wanja, a nurse, grabbed media attention for her selflessness in 2017 after appealing for help to get Hinga off drugs.

After a chance meeting on her way to the market in Lower Kabete, Wanja would become the saving hope to Hinga, a childhood friend she met back in primary school in 1992.

With the consent of Hinga, Wanja took to Facebook to ask friends and family to support her course of saving Hinga through a Paybill account.
Hinga’s cause of death is yet to be revealed.
