The premiere outdoor event Blankets & Wine will be marking their 10 years in the game this Sunday at Ngong Race Course from 12 noon till late.
Since 2008, Blankets & Wine has been the backbone connecting great live performances from Kenyan and African artists directly with audiences and continues to be instrumental in building the live music scene, as well as the creative economy in the region.
Having brought us the crème de la crème of artists from around the world the likes of Aloe Blac, Estelle, AKA, Jarel, and Micasa, they promise an even exciting all-Kenyan line-up.
The line-up includes Suraj, Atemi and Chris Adwar, Elani, Muthoni Drummer Queen (MDQ), Nyashinski, Blinky Bill and Sauti Sol.
Blankets & Wine has continually been inspired by the resilience, creativity, tenacity and sheer willpower of Kenyan artists making waves across Africa and the world at large.
Blankets & Wine creator Muthoni Ndonga aka MDQ said, “There are so many sounds that are Kenyan. As my desire to exist and to survive, I purposed to make a thing that would serve me and artists who didn’t fit the Kenyan musical narrative like me. ” This has remained to be what Blankets and Wine has been known as to date
In addition to all the great performances promised, there will also be a curated food fair dubbed “Onja-Onja”, 100% made in Kenya craft and fashion mini-market, multiple art installations, as well as a pop up by Blankets & Wine sister festival Africa Nouveau featuring portrait photography, music and a showcase of the 2018 festival look-book.
