Popular Kenyan comedian Vincent Mwasia Mutua popularly known as Chipukeezy has landed a new appointment to the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).

According to a Kenya Gazette notice dated the 6th of June, Chipukeezy has been appointed by Interior CS Fred Matiangi as a member to the NACADA board.

Chipukeezy is set to hold the position for a period of three years.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse Act, the Cabinet Secretary, Interior and Co-ordination of National Government appoints- Under Paragraph (h) Vincent Mwasia Mutua Under Paragraph George Ogalo to be members of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 6th June, 2018,” read the notice.

His appointment comes months after his closest ally, rapper Charles Kanyi Njagua, better known as Jaguar, resigned from the same position at the board to seek the Starehe Parliamentary seat.

In the letter addressed to NACADA, Jaguar had cited personal reasons for giving up his position after serving for close to two years after being appointed as board member in April 2015.

“Serving as a Nacada board member has been a fulfilling learning experience and deeply appreciate all the cooperation from the Board, management and staff in the campaign against alcohol and drug abuse,” wrote Jaguar.

When he trounced Steve Mbogo, Boniface Mwangi among others for the seat, Chipukeezy was often seen accompanying Jaguar with George Mwangangi alias Mongolo to events and meeting across the country.

He had reportedly been offered a PA job by the MP.

Outside the country, Chipukeezy was a prominent feature at Jaguar’s side during the burial of Ugandan crooner Mowzey Radio.

The comedian’s meteoric rise comes just hours after another media personality, Kanze Dena, rose to the top after she was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta as the new deputy State House spokesperson and Deputy Head of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).
