Controversial Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has changed tune days after he referred to the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as ‘ marehemu’  (deceased).

Taking to his Facebook page to clear the air on the matter after he got wind of reports that the police were looking for him over his remarks at a rally in Baba Dogo, Nairobi, Babu stated that the ‘marehemu’  he was referring to was a friend of his from Mugirango.

Babu wrote that he was referring to Josephat Matiang’i a resident of Etago, South Mugirango whose was coincidentally nicknamed marehemu after he died and resurrected after a day.

He added that the name was not in any way in reference to the Jubilee CS.

“I was not referring to Fred Matiang'i of jubilee when I said 'marehemu Matiang'i'. I was talking about a friend of mine called Josephat Matiang’i from Etago, South Mugirango whose nickname is marehemu after he died and resurrected after a day,”  wrote Babu.

Last Friday, the vocal NASA MP had to lock himself inside parliament building to avoid arrest from officers who were reportedly waiting to pounce on him as soon as he set foot outside the August house where he enjoys immunity.
