The National Super Alliance (NASA) principal Raila Odinga has claimed that the government deliberately sterilized thousands of women and girls in the guise of tetanus vaccination.
Speaking to the press, Mr Odinga stated that the catholic bishops in Kenya were right when they raised alarm over the tetanus jab.
Odinga said that four credible institutions had conducted independent tests on the vaccine and it showed that the vaccine had compounds in high amount that would render the women and girls sterile.
He added that the programme carried out in 2014 amounted to a grave violation of human rights in Kenya.
In 2014, Catholic priests were at the forefront of rejecting the mass vaccination of women and girls countrywide asking their congregations to boycott the campaign.
A position disputed by Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia who told the BBC in 2014 that the vaccine was safe.
"I would recommend my own daughter and wife to take it because I entirely 100% agree with it and have confidence it has no adverse health effects," said Mr Macharia.
