The Kenya Association of Music Producers (Kamp), has refuted claims that it - alongside other collective management organisations - withdrew Sh44 million.

The claim was made by the Kenya Copyright Board (Kecobo) in a statement sent to media houses on Wednesday, July 28, alleging that licensed collective management organisations (CMOs) had withdrawn about Sh44 million set aside for distribution as royalty, and transferred it to accounts outside its oversight.

But now, Kamp says it has not received any money in the Sh44 million withdrawal claim.

“The reason for not accessing the said monies resulted from a letter dated July 26, 2021 in which Kecobo directed our bankers (NCBA) to freeze access to the said funds available without a court order,” the statement by Kamp reads in part.
