Renowned gospel musician Reuben Kigame on Saturday officially launched his presidential bid in Luanda, Vihiga County.

Kigame, who for the past few months has been elucidating how he intends to transform the country, said he decided to go back to Luanda, where he is a registered voter, to formally announce his bid.

“A lot of people were saying that they heard I intend to vie for the top seat but had never seen me.

“I am finally stepping out to visit the 47 counties and I am beginning in Vihiga County, Musinaka Primary School, where I actually vote,” he said.

Kigame said he is happy to go all out and defend leadership of integrity, accountability, and the rule of law.

“I am tired of this narrative of a two-horse race…People have monopolized leadership as if it comes from only two or three families.

“Every young person, every person living with disability, every woman and every citizen of Kenya has a right to contest for any office because leadership belongs to the people,” he remarked.

Asked if he identifies with any political party, Kigame said he has lined up a surprise in the next two weeks but he is currently part of an alliance that is called The Eagles National Alliance that he said brings together different parties that believe in values, Godly leadership and citizens.

“You are going to see an earthshaking event in just under two weeks when we finally launch our coalition to undo all that has been happening in this country.

“We want a fresh start,” he reiterated.

Speaking during a recent interview on Spice FM, Kigame stated that he intends to treat everyone equally, prioritizing the availability of basic needs.

He, however, divulged that he does not support certain lifestyles but just like Christ, he would serve all citizens indiscriminately.

“I will be president for all. My priority would be to ask, have they eaten, do they have medicines, do they have jobs? They are first human before anything else.

“I do not support certain lifestyles as a Christian and as an African but I cannot discriminate someone with regard to services and human dignity just because I believe different. On this matter, I follow the example of Jesus. He came for all,” said Kigame.

On abortion, the Enda Nasi singer reiterated that he is pro-life and firmly believes in protecting life from conception.

“I believe in protecting life from conception to natural death. This is not only biblical. It is also constitutional according to article 26.

“I am a Christian, but presidency implies I must serve everyone equally and fairly. I will be a president also for Muslims, Hindus, atheists, etc. All need servant leadership,” he said.
