After his long battles with former Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO, Ezekiel Mutua, who stopped his Wife Material show from airing, Eric Omondi is back with the controversial romance-laced act.

The new season of the show is set to premiere on Tuesday, and will feature ‘wanna-be wives’ from Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Nigeria and Rwanda.

The new season whose recording was completed this week comes four months after the show was held back over undisclosed contestants’ disputes. However, managing the crisis, Eric downplayed the matter as he singled out one of the would-be heartthrobs as having been ‘rogue’.

Eric, the self-confessed President of Comedy in Africa has now taken to social media posting: “Wife Material Three Applications Closed”.

“19th October! Africa Will Shake,” he has warned.

Eric’s troubles with Mutua started when the ‘Moral Cop’ called for the comedian to be investigated over some of the acts that were aired on the Wife Material show, actions he termed as sexual, immoral and indecent.

He claimed young girls were being misled into the show and used to perform immoral acts. He also said the public was being treated to sexual acts that degraded societal morals and misled the youth to aping acts that are not accepted in the African culture.

This happened as a video of Eric and one of the contestants went viral.

The comedian’s troubles deepened as Mutua ordered for him to be arrested, a move that got police nabbing him and confiscating some of his electronics. He later called for a truce and pledged to work closely with KFCB.

Having been slated to take off in May, the second season of the show hit a snag after differences emerged between Eric and one of the hopeful wives.

“Sadly, it seems #wifematerial2 was never meant to happen, but we can still say it happened in a way, actually twice. The show was to begin tomorrow as has been heavily advertised but unfortunately, that won’t be so," Eric said.

"The idea behind #wifematerial is to entertain but most importantly to ensure that the contestants are comfortable, safe and having the time of their lives while contesting. Unfortunately, one of the contestants went completely and utterly 'rogue' and despite numerous attempts to control the situation the atmosphere in the house has not been conducive for the show to continue. We say farewell to season two. Season three will start almost immediately,” the comedian said via social media.
