Popular award-winning Nigerian singer-songwriter Tiwa Savage has come out to clear the air over a short intimate video clip that accidentally got to the wrong hands. Speaking at to Power 105.1 radio in New York, the veteran singer revealed that an unidentified person is threatening to release the said clip to the public if she does not pay them.

“I am not going to call it a sex tape but it's a tape between me and the person I am dating right now,” she said at the radio interview.

According to her, the said blackmailer obtained the clip shortly after her lover accidentally posted it on his Snapchat account.  However, it was deleted but it was too late, someone had already gotten hold of it. She further clarified that it is not someone working closely with her.

“It is not from someone working closely with me. What happened is that the person did it on Snap and he posted it by accident, but he quickly deleted it. However, someone got it before he could delete it. It is a very short video, but it is me. It is going to be out there and I can just imagine the memes. I just found out yesterday. I could not sleep last night,” she added.

Urging her fans to ignore it should it come out, Tiwa Savage went on to add that she will not be ashamed because she was caught on camera doing a natural thing with a person whom she loves. To cope with it, she further revealed that she is thinking of having someone else run her accounts so that she wouldn’t get to see it all when it’s all out.

“We tried to stall them, but I later decided that I am going to own the narrative. I am not ashamed of it; this is someone I am dating; I am not cheating, neither is he. We are grownups. I cannot believe this is happening to me. I feel for my fans because they will have to keep defending me. I can switch off my phone or have someone run my account so I do not see that, but my fans will feel the need to protect me. I will like my fans to ignore it,” she said.

According to her, she will not give in to the demands of the blackmailer who might still go ahead and release the video after being paid. She further added that she could even release it herself.

“I'm not gonna have somebody blackmail for doing something that is natural,” she said adding that, “I'm that crazy I could put it out myself ... You're not making any money off of this.”
