Last year, Ugandan sensation Eddy Kenzo clinched the ‘Viewer’s Choice Best New International Artist’ gong at the 2015 BET Awards held in Los Angeles.

The new category was decided by fans who helped Kenzo beat new African artistes - South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest, Ghana’s Mz Vee and three from the UK (George The Poet, MIC Lowry and Novelist) - to the award.

Despite his gratitude to his fans for voting for him, Eddie was not happy with the way award organisers treated him. He got his award a day before the main ceremony.

“It was really disappointing. Why couldn’t they just give me the same platform as the other artistes? I tried to complain but no one bothered. But that day is coming when they will be begging Africans to involve them in our activities,” Kenzo who is in Nairobi to record for Coke Studio Season 4, told Heads Up.
