People are known to go out of their way to get the approval of objects of their desires. However, when all their efforts yield no fruit or are out-rightly rejected, some lose their minds and do shocking things. Some resort to all manner of antics, including smear campaigns against the women in question.
However, for a certain Mugambi, he took a whole new tack and shocked residents of Anchenge village in Igembe, Meru County by smearing a woman’s house with human feaces after she turned down his advances.
Idah Kendi, a single mother of three, said she was asleep when the man who is well known to her smeared her whole house with the waste and dumped some at her doorstep.
“When I suspected that there was something odd going on outside, I opened the door and was faced by a stench of feaces. I recognised the person who was doing this and when he saw me he started hurling stones at me,” she said.
She said the man, who separated with his wife a while back, has been seducing her and after realising that she was not interested, started being aggressive.
“He has promised me hell and even threatened to burn down my house and ensure I have relocated from this place,” she said, expressing fear for her life.
The man is said to have separated from his wife following regular domestic squabbles. The marriage, too, didn’t end without drama.
He allegedly kicked her out by flooding their house with water using hosepipes he had hired in Meru town.
“He had done all manner of things to her, including burning her clothes with acid,” said Doreen Makena, a neighbour.
Makena said she has never heard of such heinous act from a sensible man, just because someone has turned down his advances.
“This is a great shame and disrespect to the community as well as a bad picture to children in this neighborhood, “ Makena said.
Stanley Kithioro, an elder, said the act was an abomination to the family and a special cleansing by elders of Ameru Njuri Ncheke was required to prevent the entire family from bad omen.
“Going by Ameru traditions, a curse has been cast towards this woman and her children and this can only be countered by special cleansing. This was only done by members of a certain clan to people who had gone against their morals,” said Mr Kithioro.
The woman has since reported the matter to police as she prepares to seek more intervention from the elders.
