I forgive two women who stripped me naked in city lodge - Nigerian pastor

Nigerian pastor in court

Is it likely that a Nigerian pastor visiting Nairobi was lured into a lodge by sex workers for ‘private prayers’?

Nairobians may not know, as James Ekechuku, 38, of Nigeria’s God’s Power Ministries, has chosen to forgive the women who police claim are extortionists.

Ekechuku dropped extortion charges against the women he claims stole his money at a lodge. Ekechuku, 38, told The Nairobian he had landed in the country on September 29 for a “prophetic mission,” on invitation of a popular evangelistic church in the city.

The preacher claims he lost more than Sh100, 000 at the lodge on Munyu Road on October 5 after the two women approached him for “private prayers” in a hotel room.

“I am confused. The two women approached me requesting for prayers, and when I obliged, I found myself sweating and naked in the lodging before the attendants came to my rescue,” he said.

Grace Wairumu and Jane Wanjiru were later arrested, but were set free, thanks to Ekechuku’s forgiveness.

They were arrested at the lodge immediately the preacher was found in the room with foam oozing from his mouth.

The two women were taken to a Makadara court on October 7 to answer to charges of extortion, but were later set free, alongside the lodge’s watchman, John Mwangi, who is said to have been an accomplice in the crime. Ekechuku dropped the charges.

The preacher later told The Nairobian he had stepped out of his hotel room for a stroll when he was approached by the two women who asked for “quick prayers.”

“The women touched almost every part of my body. I can recall one of them touching my private parts, but I resisted the temptation. I lost my senses and when I woke up after an hour, I was naked and sweating.”

One of the women who spoke to The Nairobian after being set free said the preacher had probably gone to a nearby bar where he could have been drugged by prostitutes and taken to the lodge where his wallet and cash were stolen.

Ekechuku told The Nairobian that he has reported the matter to Nigerian Embassy in Nairobi who booked him a flight back home after his “redemption mission flopped.”
