Deputy Speaker Ibrahim Swaleh confirmed that so bad is the situation that learners are dropping out of school.

Several schools in Embu County have been invaded by bedbugs, something that is worrying Deputy Speaker Ibrahim Swaleh.

Swaleh confirmed that so bad is the situation that learners were dropping out of school.

He now wants the County Assembly to allocate money that will be channelled to purchase fungicides for the schools.

He claimed that it was shameful and something needs to be done urgently.

“In Shauri Moyo slums, I spent my own money to fumigate and eradicate jiggers, though there was money allocated for that. I urge leaders to take action and have their priorities right,” he said.

Last year, residents of Baba Dogo, Kayole and Kariobangi in Nairobi were forced to relocate after a bedbug outbreak.
