Presenters and anchors always look dashing on screen, but behind it all lies the talent that makes everything on screen a success, Producers.
Jalango With The Money is one such show that has grown by leaps and bounds. After months of working with the crew and managing audiences, Millicent Chebet a.k.a Chebby finally reveals how she has achieved so much in the production world.
Born and raised in Kapsabet, Chebby the second born of five was the role model to her younger siblings. She attended Kapsimotwo boarding school from nursery level all through to primary level. A period that cultivated a level of independence and responsibility as she looked after her siblings while still in school.
In Hill Secondary School she took part in various drama school activities where she developed drama production skills.
Chebby later pursued a Diploma in Human resource at Kenya Institute of Management and then added media related skills at Mount Kenya University.
Her first job was in a top government office but her passion for the arts and production never fizzled. Years later, she landed an events organising job for renowned singer Emmy Kosgei where she planned Emmy’s activity calendar and schedule appointments.
Finally back to her comfort zone, Chebii was determined to succeed towards realizing her passion.
"My parents were very happy about my job and social positioning so shifting from my fulltime job didnt work well with them. The most important thing was that at the moment I felt at peace with my choice to pursue my passion at compared to working fulltime in a government office."
Seeing the passion and expertise with which she handled her work, Chebby landed several roles that included working as a backstage assistant in the Churchill Live Show working with top comedians.
Soon after, she was called to Ebru television as a producer.
Her best stint however has been with Jalango With The Money where she is in charge of the backstage activities, managing the audiences and ensuring that everything goes according to plan.
"I believe in Jalang'os vision, and it was for that reason that I joined him for Jalang'o with the money on KTN in the quest to transform local live shows." Chebby said.
Despite currently loving what she does, Chebby admits that she wishes she had started mainstream production earlier.
She advices that everyone should follow their hearts and do what they love because passionate work often yields success.
It is for this reason that Chebby is our WCW today.
