If you are a fan of Netflix's smash hit Spanish series "Money Heist," then you have a reason to look forward to the end of the year! This is because the American over-the-top content platform and production company announced that the fifth and final season of the acclaimed series would be out towards the end of the year.

In a statement to news outlets, Netflix revealed that Money Heist season five would be split into two installments of five episodes each. Volume 1 will be released on September 3, and volume 2 on December 3, 2021.

"The most famous heist in history will come to an end in two installments of five episodes each: volume 1 will be released on September 3 and volume 2 will be released on December 3, 2021," said Netflix in a statement.

Created by Alex Pina and produced by Vancouver Media, the show, originally titled "La Casa De Papel," wrapped production on its last chapter in May on 14th. According to Pina, the team decided to change things, considering the coronavirus pandemic and the final season.

"When we began to write Part 5 in the midst of the pandemic, we felt that we had to change what was expected from the ten-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself. We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes," the series creator said in a statement.

Giving hints about what fans should expect, Pina further revealed that the series's final stretch has focused on the emotional aspect of the characters. More so, the last five episodes will be quite an emotional roller-coaster.

"In volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure," Pina added.

In a new teaser released by Netflix, the gang appears to be stuck in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have managed to rescue Lisbon, played by Itziar Ituno, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own. The Professor (Alvaro Morte) has been captured by Sierra (Najwa Nimri), and, for the first time, he doesn't have an escape plan.
