Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru on Friday stepped out in black pants that she got from a guy identified as Kevo who owns a stall in Gikomba.
As part of a campaign dubbed #60DaysOfKenyanStyleHustle that seeks to promote Kenyan style and the entire creative hustle, Waiguru said for the next 60 days she will be donning a variety of outfits from mitumba to Kenyan designer wear.
“Pls join me in the support and celebration of Kenyan style and the entire creative hustle. Everyday for the next 60 days I will share photos of me dressed in ‘Kenyan styled’ attire ranging from thrifted mitumba, your local Fundi to Kenyan designer wear.
“The print on these pants is fire & they are so comfortable! Big thanks to Kevo, who thrifted them 4me from his Gikomba stall. Definitely be back 4more,” wrote the governor.
On Saturday, Waiguru shared a photo of a mustard top she got from a local designer, Sally Karago, describing her work as beautiful.
“This top is it for me! This clever neck, loose fit, elegant hang. Yaani, the fabric is so soft na design imeweza. “I love supporting women in business. @sallykarago asante, your fashion hustle is beautiful,” she wrote.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has also been promoting local outfits, oftentimes wearing African-print shirts.
