Celebrated American actor Willard Carroll Smith Jr, popularly known as Will Smith, has shared unknown details about his marriage to American actress Jada Pinkett.

In an interview, the 53-year-old actor said that their marriage started as monogamy but later evolved.

According to him, Jada never believed in a conventional marriage.

"Jada never believed in conventional marriage … Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up," he said.

Shedding more light into what they termed as an open marriage a while back, Will added that there were endless discussions around their marriage to understand where each party was coming from.

"There were significant endless discussions about, what is relational perfection? And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection," he said.

The revelations come barely a year after Jada Pinkett revealed she had an affair with singer August Alsina. This was after the singer came forward and admitted that he was involved in a romantic relationship with her.

Describing the nature of their relationship, Jada said she and August were caught up in an entanglement as they were both going through a difficult time at the moment.

"I got into an entanglement with August. I was in a lot of pain, and I was very broken. In the process of that relationship, I definitely realized that you can't find happiness outside of yourself," she said.

When August was approached about the issue, he admitted that he had ironed out any issues with Will and that they were in a good place.

"I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation. He gave me his blessing. And I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really, deeply loved and have a ton of love for her," he said.

?"I devoted myself to it. I gave my full self to it. So much so that I can die right now, and be ok with knowing that I fully gave myself to somebody. And some people never get that in this lifetime."
