The late popular Kenyan comedian Ben Maurice Onyango aka Othuol Othuol was laid to rest on Saturday, October 24, at his father’s ancestral home in Alego, Siaya County. The Got Gaga village ceremony was an emotional affair as family members and fellow comedians eulogized the late rib-cracker as one of the best creative talents Kenya has ever had.

Among those who spoke was the Comedians in Kenya Society Chairman Ken Waudo as well as leading comedians who are credited for discovering and mentoring him Churchill and Jalang’o. Also present was MC Jesse who has for years worked with the late comic star under the Churchill Raw show.

“Othuol was a brother to me. He was a brave and talented comedian who was always ready to learn and pass his gift to other upcoming talents. We are confident to say that Kenya has lost one of its shining stars when it comes to the entertainment sector. May his soul rest in peace,” Churchill had told Standard Entertainment and Lifestyle earlier in the day. Making his send-off tribute, a rather emotional Jalang’o held back tears as he went back memory lane describing how he met Othuol Othuol and how God later helped them to become big stars in the country.

The rather quiet village came to life as hundreds of mourners streamed in to pay their last respects to the former Churchill Show star who died at 31.
