Government instructs all schools to follow these protocols as reopening dates are announced

The Ministry of Education on Tuesday announced that schools will reopen on October 12, 2020, and Education CS Prof George Magoha stated that the first students to resume will be those in Grade 4, Class 8 and Form 4.

Through a statement to newsrooms, Magoha noted that KCPE will be done from March 22, 2021, while KCSE will commence three days later. The CS listed a number of guidelines that must be strictly adhered to during this period as listed below:

Mandatory use of facemasks and temperature checks for all students and staff. Physical distancing should not be used to keep any child away from school All schools used as quarantine centres to be fumigated Schools designated as quarantine centres but not used need not be fumigated All schools have been linked to the nearest public health facility prior to being reopened Teachers asked to provide psychosocial and spiritual support to learners and support staff BOGs and Head teachers to ensure full compliance with the guidelines

The Government assured parents that it had already met the full costs of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations for all candidates.

Public universities and colleges resumed learning yesterday (October 5).

The Ministry of Education announced last week that students in their final year of study in all public universities and tertiary institutions to report first before others are allowed back.
