Despite making music for almost a decade now, Nigerian pop star Burna Boy experienced a global breakout in 2019.
This comes after dropping his fourth straight album dubbed African Giant and featuring in tracks like Own It (Stormzy and Ed Sheeran) and Location featuring Dave
Indeed, he is truly an African giant as he awesomely performed in The Tonigh Show a few weeks ago and just after that confident performance he dropped a new jam called Money Pay.
“I’m highlighting the importance of moving with the ‘cheese’ at all times,” the Location hit-maker said in a press release.
“‘No dey carry money play’ is a word of advice/stern warning to never lose the hustle mentality.” He explained.
Well his 2019 victory lap also includes being in former US President Barack Obama’s Favourite Music List for 2019.
In his tweet, Obama noted that he drew the list from a variety of music genres.
“From hip-hop to country to The Boss, here are my songs of the year. If you’re looking for something to keep you company on a long drive or help you turn up a workout, I hope there’s a track or two in here that does the trick.” The post read.
Rema’s Iron Man also joined Burna Boy’s Anybody on the list which were mentioned alongside 32 other songs.
Anybody was also among the soundtracks used in American TV Series, Ballers in September 2019. The track is from African Giant album.
Anticipation this year is on another level in the music industry not only for Burna Boy but for Africa as a continent.
