Considering all he has gone through in the past five months, life surely tastes sweeter for bongo start Ommy Dimpoz after he got a new lease in life.
Celebrating his birthday in style today, Dimpoz took to social media to show his gratitude and appreciation to God and all those who helped him overcome the serious throat condition he had been putting up with.
''Leo 13th September ni kumbukumbu yangu ya siku ya kuzaliwa. Namshukuru sana Mwenyezi Mungu (ALHAMDULILAAH) kwa kunipa nafasi ya kuuona mwaka mwingine, kwani niliyoyapitia katika kipindi cha takribani miezi 5 kama ingekuwa sio mapenzi yake yeye (M/Mungu) basi ingekuwa imebaki history,'' he wrote in part.
He went on to thank his manager who has been by his side throughout and especially Mombasa governor Hassan Joho who played a key role in his treatment.
''Pia Shukran za dhati kwa Familia yangu, Marafiki zangu wa Karibu, Management yangu ROCKSTAR FAMILY @officialalikiba na my lovely Manager @sevenmosha ambaye amehangaika na mimi mfano wa Mama Mzazi na mtoto wake pamoja na my Big Brother Governor @joho_001 ambaye ameniuguza kwa kipindi hichi chote chini ya uangalizi wake na Madaktari kuanzia Kenya Mpaka South Africa,'' Ommy wrote as he celebrated his birthday.
Posting a photo while he was in critical condition in ICU, the singer disclosed the reason he did so is to remind his fellow men how delicate life is and no one was assured of tomorrow.
He also revealed how at one point he wanted to give up until a patient who had been shot nine times was brought next to him and he survived.
''Kuna kipindi wakati nimelazwa nilikata tamaa ya kuishi nikaona labda muda wangu umekwisha lakini hapo Hospital akaletwa mgonjwa mwingine ambae alikuwa pembeni yangu alishambuliwa na majambazi kwa risasi tisa mwilini lakini madaktari wakafanikiwa kuokoa maisha yake na akapona so nikajiuliza mimi ni nani nikate tamaa ya kuishi na nikajifunza kwamba kuugua sio kufa,” he wrote.
The 'Yanje' hitmaker also asked his fans to pray for those in hospital.
“Ni vyema tukipata nafasi basi tuwaombee na kuwafariji wagonjwa kwani wanayoyapitia ni magumu mno.”
Dimpoz was flown to South Africa for specialized treatment and had to undergo an invasive surgery after it was discovered he had been poisoned.
Happy birthday to you Ommy Dimpoz!
