Palaver

Martin Ogindo, Omondi Anyanga, Ochieng Daima and John Mbadi, Wilbur Otichillo, Justus Kizito, Margaret Wanjiru, Alfred Sambu, Timothy Bosire. This is an impressive array of big ‘guns’ with one thing in common in one or other election ODM was involved in. Rightly or wrongly, they were declared losers as several counties hit the road called Election Highway that branches off into Power Lane. But that is not news. The real news is the silence from party leader Raila Odinga. He was in faraway Central Province. Perhaps, he recalls accusations in yesteryear polls where his name was invoked in sham balloting. Wise guy.

A Sky News report says six people have died in Britain after being told they had been healed of HIV, and could stop taking their medication. The report adds that there is evidence evangelical churches in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow are claiming to cure HIV through prayer. Is it just me or is there something about these miracle cures, miracle babies, miracle teeth whiteners, miracle doubling of cash, etc? And what became of the Loliondo Sh25 cure mad rush? Please don’t besmirch the good work that will be showcased tomorrow on World Aids Day. These ‘miracles’ are an insult to any intelligent life form.

Isiolo North MP and Livestock Development Minister Dr Mohammed Kuti has impressive credentials and perfect logic. He asks his people: "If you do not stop fighting, do not take your children to school, do not work hard on your land, you will not benefit from the development Isiolo will attract...By next May, the airport and abattoir will be opened. The Isiolo-Moyale roadwork is also ongoing. How will you benefit from these projects, when you are busy killing each other?’’ Palaver salutes a great leader.

And finally...

The Great Wall of China was built originally to protect the northern border of the Chinese Empire. The Berlin Wall by East Germany was to keep its citizens from fleeing to the West. But so is the forbidding fence ringing the Aberdares range to not only keep wild animals in, but humans out. Palaver is glad to hear Government is fencing off parts of Mau Forest to stop encroachment by private developers and farmers. Perfect. History is on your side.
