Eight people were injured after they were involved in a road accident in Machakos County on Friday.
The accident which involved a matatu minibus and a lorry carrying sand occurred near Machakos town along the Machakos-Nairobi road when the matatu rammed the lorry from behind.
The two vehicles were headed in the same direction.
The injured were rushed to the Machakos Level Five Hospital where some were admitted and others treated and discharged.
The matatu was damaged at the front while the lorry suffered minimal damages.
According to eyewitnesses, the matatu which was over speeding tried to overtake the lorry, while an oncoming vehicle emerged forcing it to retreat and hit the lorry from behind.
The Friday afternoon accident caused a huge traffic jam along the busy road as motorists were forced to use alternative routes.
The two vehicles were towed to the Machakos Police Station. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
