Accident exposes Sh2.5m bhang on transit to Mombasa

A self-involving morning accident at Konza area on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway has exposed bhang on transit worth Sh2.5 million.
 
According to Makueni police commander Joseph Ole Naipeiyan, the bhang sticks were packed in 52 bag,s each weighing 90kg.
 
 
"The vehicle that was coming from Nairobi to Mombasa had on board 55 bags of maize and 52 others of bhang," said Naipeiyan.
 
 
The vehicle carrying the goods is reported to have veered off the road, landed in a ditch with the conductor getting injured, while the driver escaped the scene. 
 
 
The conductor, who is receiving treatment at Machakos Level 5 Hospital, has told the police they had come from Sirare border in South Nyanza and were headed to a buyer in Mombasa.
 
Police from Salama police station have towed the vehicle to their station but under the guard of Northern Corridor security personnel.
