Man indicted for maiming varsity student's genitals

Kitui, Kenya: A Kitui businessman accused of mutilating the private parts of a university student, whom he accused of having a love affair with his wife has a case to answer.

Kitui Principal Magistrate Beatrice Kimemia yesterday ruled that Mutia Malingi be put on his defence on charges of causing grievous harm to a first year student (name withheld) studying at the Mount Kenya University.

“The prosecution has established a case which warrants the accused to be placed on his defence,” Kimemia ruled.

The accused will give sworn testimony on February 17.

The student told the court that on April 18, 2012, at Zombe market, the accused together with his wife removed one of his testicles using a razor blade.
