Body of missing man found in church toilet

By Joseph Muchiri | September 29th 2014

Embu, Kenya: Faithful of a church in Runyenjes town, Embu County, were yesterday shocked after they found a man's body dumped in a toilet in the compound.

The body of Ephantus Njiru, 41, who went missing on September 24, was discovered inside the toilet at Four Square Church at 8am. Embu East Administration Police Commandant Charles Machinji said the body had been burnt from the abdomen upwards and also bore stabs of a sharp object on the belly.

"He lived in Kigaritho slum and was suspected to be involved in theft. We went to his house to get more information from his wife but she was not in," said Machinji, adding that as part of investigations they would also probe the church management and residents of the slum.
