Standard Group Partners with Kenya Agriculture and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO)

18 June 2020

The Standard Group has announced a partnership deal with the Kenya Agriculture and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO) to promote agriculture research.

The partnership will see Standard Group promote the application of research findings and use of technology to boost viewers’ and readers’ knowledge in carrying out their agricultural activities.

The deal signed at Standard Group headquarters in Nairobi yesterday by Kalro Director General Eliud Kireger and Standard Group CEO Orlando Lyomu will usher in new frontiers for the two organisations.

Media reach

Through the partnership, the agency will expedite access to research information, while the media house benefits from the expertise in agriculture value chains.

Kireger said Kalro now has access to a platform with wide national and global reach, “with niche agriculture-focused media products through which to disseminate its research information and knowledge”. Lyomu added that Kalro’s vast pool of experts across agriculture value chains makes it an essential knowledge partner.

“The information obtained will be disseminated through our media platforms and agricultural portfolio. It gives the company a cutting edge when it comes to agricultural communication as envisioned in the group’s FarmKenya strategic objectives,” he said.

FarmKenya is an initiative by the Standard Group to impact information on farming communities. It includes a weekly pullout in The Saturday Standard and a 24-hour agribusiness television station, KTN Farmers TV.

Among the areas of collaboration for the two companies will be the hosting of agriculture-related forums, conferences, and events.
