Eldoret has been known as the home of champions because of brilliances of gold medals that have been commonly rolling in the green city from several world athletic champions. This word, CHAMPION, might soon find its way out and would be branded the home of young  golfers due the current virtuous performance demonstrated in the town. where parents and golf fans were shocked to find their children leading in top positions during The Standard County Golf Classic tournament on Saturday in Eldoret.

Teenage boys and girls are currently outshining their parents in organized golf tournaments in the region. Aron Kitur was the man to watch. He grabbed the overall gross winner beating his close rival C. Gatua by (16) 42 points against (22) 42 respectively.

The best winners went home smiling as The Standard team led by Chief Editor John Bundotich  branded them with encouraging gifts of different values.

She promised that the company will organize another golf tournament in the town next year.

“I am very happy for the warm welcome you have shown us here in Eldoret.I can see the room is packed and it has really encouraged us, and let me a sure you that we will be here again next year,”she promised amid claps from the audience.

Bundotich told golfers that the company had decided to bring the event to Eldoret because it is among the top regions in the country who have made fundamental support to the Standard Group at large.

He also urged the residents to give adequate support especially to the youths whom he said are the future of the country.

“We respect you people for the support you have given us both in Newspapers and KTN. This journey started in Thika and today we are here in Eldoret. We not going to end it here the last golf tournament will be in Muthaiga in December.”Bundotich added.

The event that started in the morning and ended at around 10pm was also graced by several senior staff that includes Cooperate Affairs Executive Officer Cynthia Matee and Cooperate Affairs Officer Naomy Kosgei.

Others were Regional Editor North Rift Vincent Bartoo, Judy Yego CEO’s Executive assistant and golf consultant John Ngaruiya.
