Lapsset releases funds for 43 students

The Government has already disbursed money for students who benefited from the Lamu Port South Sudan Ethiopia Transport Corridor (Lapsset) project scholarship, the Mombasa Technical Training Institute has said.

The institute's registrar, Hafsa Seif, said the Lapsset Authority has released the money to finance the education of 43 students from Lamu, who are expected to be hired when the project starts.

She said each student will be given Sh13,500 this week for meals, transport and pocket money.

Ms Seif said the students pursuing certificate and diploma courses have been complaining to her over the delay in the release of the cash.

"The students have received full sponsorship from the Lapsset Authority and the matter is being addressed by the relevant officials in Government," she said.
