More than 300 aspirants say Jubilee smart cards favour only rich candidates

More than 300 Jubilee aspirants want the party's national office to get rid of the recently launched smart cards.

The aspirants, who met in Kapsabet, complained the cards were part of a conspiracy to favour rich candidates in the party nominations.

The smart cards containing members' names, national identity numbers, mobile phone numbers and voting details were initially meant to ensure a transparent nomination process.

The aspirants claimed Jubilee's move to encourage them to buy the cards en masse for their supporters was turning the nomination process into a show of financial might.

They said the cards should be free for all party members.
