Palaver

Internal Security Minister Katoo ole Metito is clear that the Mombasa Republican Council’s Pwani si Kenya (Coast is not part of Kenya) banner is criminal and that the Kenya Government shall not, and will never, negotiate with a group bent on criminal intent. And it well in keeping with the criminalization of a certain MP’s recent “Kayole Si Kajiado” declaration that has seen him take a self-imposed vow of silence. And still under investigation is the tit-for-tat caution by Assistant minister Joseph Nkaissery about guests trying to bite off a handful when offered a finger. Reminds Palaver of the days of yore when one Bill from Narok told non-indigenes to “lie low like an envelope” or the so-called Kanu zones that would not allow anyone one to flash the multiparty finger salute! O how faces change but entrenched prejudices remain!

Heh! Heh! Heh! Seems more sensible leaders have come out to join Palaver in disowning the sneaky gratuity  hidden under a raft of other amendments awaiting presidential assent. We recognised Martha Karua’s common sense position yesterday, but today, we can gladly add Paul Muite, Musalia Mudavadi, Raila Odinga, and James ole Kiyiapi. The mover of the amendment must be hoping prezzo will be dazzled by the Sh50 million he stands to take home if he were to quickly sign on the dotted line.

Pope Benedict (pictured) XVI’s former butler has started doing time after he confessed to have stolen thousands of documents from the pontiff’s apartment and leaked them to the media. At his trial, former butler Paolo Gabriele, denied being guilty of theft, saying his leakages were “for the good of the church... to bring the church back on the right track.” This coming from the man who stood toe-to-toe, shoulder to shoulder with the Pope, dressed him and served him breakfast. Was he suggesting 85-year-old Benedict was not in control of his own church? Troubling times indeed!

And finally...

Remember Nithi MP Kareke Mbiuki urging his constituents to give birth to more babies so they can vote him in as president in 2027? What of Lari MP David Njuguna who claimed he has helped to build so many schools so residents should give birth to more children so that? Now gava says you can only have two.
